Workshop for students

In preparation for their traineeship experience, the third year students (PASP [previously approved study plan] "Professional education") must follow a traineeship preparation path equivalent to 2 credits. This course, delivered with the support of the Career Service, consists of 4 half-day workshops each, delivered during the first and second semester typically on days when there is no teaching, or at the end of the semester (before the start of the exam session). The workshops that make up the path to the traineeship are the following:

• Round table with companies from within the mechanical sector
• Internship: here we go!
• Simulation of selection interviews with companies
• Roadmap to job search tools

Every year students enrolled in this programme have a rich and diversified range of workshops: alongside those that in recent years have become consolidated features, every year new and interesting initiatives are designed and organised. On the School of Architecture Urban Planning Construction Engineering's website, on www.auic.polimi.it/en/teaching/lessons-and-exams/workshops, there are the general rules of participation in the workshops. ENI S.pA., which contributes to the creation of this Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of  Science) course, periodically organises study days dedicated to students enrolled in the training course at the Piacenza Campus. The most recent study days (during 2018 and 2019) were dedicated to topics such as:

• Advanced fuels from renewable energy
• Concentrating solar power technology
• Carbon capture & trasformation with micro algae
• Organic photovoltaic solutions
• Knowledge management
• From biomass to advanced biofuels

The Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of  Science) course in Mechanical Engineering involves the acquisition of 2 teaching credits on transversal skills that aim to develop a basic knowledge on topics that are increasingly important for the engineer's profession, and that are not included in the traditional curriculum: for example, engineers’ criminal liability, ergonomics and occupational medicine, copyright and intellectual property, technical communication, etc.

To this end, the course organises 4-hour thematic workshops that are typically held in the middle of the semester, during periods when there are no lessons. In order to obtain the 2 credits, students must participate in at least 4 modules (as well as passing the relative test).
