The technologies studied at ThESI Lab find application in several strategic sectors:
- Buildings and thermal comfort: integration of PCM in walls, plasters, panels, roofs and building components to improve indoor comfort, reduce heating and cooling peaks and support climate adaptation strategies;
- Energy systems and renewable sources: study of solutions to store thermal energy, recover waste heat and improve the efficiency of solar thermal, photovoltaic and hybrid systems;
- Photovoltaics and thermal control: application of materials and systems to limit the overheating of photovoltaic modules and analyse the relationship between temperature, energy performance and operational stability;
- Electronics, batteries and data centres: development of passive and hybrid solutions for the thermal management of sensitive components, electrical systems, IT infrastructures and high-energy-density devices;
- Food and pharmaceutical cold chain: study of materials and systems to maintain stable temperatures during the transport, storage and distribution of food, medicines and sensitive products.
